Build Your Legacy

In order for us to love our lives and live out our callings, we’ll need to make some brave decisions.

The brave decisions we make will not only impact our lives, but they’ll influence the lives of generations to come.
In a recent episode of Praise, Bianca Olthoff shared from the Book of Ruth about how our spiritual mother stepped out in faith despite her circumstances and became an integral part in the line of Christ.
Ruth didn’t wait for opportunity to find her. She actively searched for opportunity as if her life depended on it because it did! As a Moabitess in patriarchal Bethlehem, Ruth had everything going against her. Olthoff explained earlier in her sermon that Ruth wasn’t prim and proper. She was different, an outsider to the Israelites, and she had an edge to her that made her stand out in Bethlehem.
But Ruth didn’t let her upbringing affect her destiny. She didn’t let her circumstances hinder her calling.
Ruth let go of what her societal limitations were and took a risk to be what God created her for.
As Olthoff puts it, “Ruth is a reminder that it is not what is dealt to you but what you do with what God gives you.”
You see, because we believe in a God who is limitless, we are not limited by our circumstances. What step of faith has God placed in front of you to take? Take it and see that “He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion” (Philippians 1:6).
