  • a closer walk with Jesus.
  • 00:00:03.000 --> 00:00:05.100
  • (upbeat music)
  • 00:00:05.100 --> 00:00:07.260
  • Welcome to "Live with Passion."
  • 00:00:32.090 --> 00:00:33.230
  • I'm Father Cedric Pisegna.
  • 00:00:33.230 --> 00:00:35.050
  • I'm so glad that you tuned in to the program.
  • 00:00:35.050 --> 00:00:37.070
  • I wanna share with you in this series
  • 00:00:37.070 --> 00:00:39.100
  • about what really matters.
  • 00:00:39.100 --> 00:00:42.000
  • I wanna talk to you about the heart of our faith.
  • 00:00:43.130 --> 00:00:46.130
  • And, of course, the heart of our faith is Jesus Christ.
  • 00:00:46.130 --> 00:00:49.100
  • I want you to have an encounter with him,
  • 00:00:49.100 --> 00:00:53.170
  • a meeting with him,
  • 00:00:53.170 --> 00:00:55.120
  • and come to contact him in a new personal way.
  • 00:00:55.120 --> 00:00:59.100
  • Let me share with you the gospel.
  • 00:00:59.100 --> 00:01:01.060
  • This is Mark chapter eight.
  • 00:01:01.060 --> 00:01:03.210
  • "And they came to Bethsaida.
  • 00:01:03.210 --> 00:01:06.090
  • "Some people brought to Jesus a blind man
  • 00:01:06.090 --> 00:01:10.000
  • "and begged him to touch him.
  • 00:01:10.000 --> 00:01:12.130
  • "Jesus took the blind man by the hand
  • 00:01:12.130 --> 00:01:15.000
  • "and he led him out of the village.
  • 00:01:16.040 --> 00:01:17.290
  • "And when he had spit on his eyes,
  • 00:01:17.290 --> 00:01:20.130
  • "he laid his hands on him and asked, 'Do you see anything?'
  • 00:01:20.130 --> 00:01:24.160
  • "And he looked up and he said,
  • 00:01:24.160 --> 00:01:27.000
  • "'I see men but they look like trees that are walking.'
  • 00:01:27.000 --> 00:01:30.130
  • "And then, again, Jesus laid his hands upon his eyes.
  • 00:01:30.130 --> 00:01:33.070
  • "And he looked intently, and the man was restored.
  • 00:01:33.070 --> 00:01:37.090
  • "He saw everything clearly.
  • 00:01:37.090 --> 00:01:40.030
  • "And he sent him away to his home, saying,
  • 00:01:40.030 --> 00:01:41.280
  • "'Don't even enter the village.'"
  • 00:01:41.280 --> 00:01:43.230
  • I don't know if you've ever heard that song,
  • 00:01:44.290 --> 00:01:47.290
  • love the lyrics, it's a gospel song by Patsy Cline,
  • 00:01:47.290 --> 00:01:51.280
  • and it's called "Just a Closer Walk with Thee."
  • 00:01:51.280 --> 00:01:55.120
  • And couple of the verses, one of the verses,
  • 00:01:55.120 --> 00:01:57.220
  • "Just a closer walk with thee.
  • 00:01:57.220 --> 00:02:00.070
  • "Grant it, Jesus, this is my plea.
  • 00:02:00.070 --> 00:02:02.120
  • "Daily walking close to thee.
  • 00:02:02.120 --> 00:02:05.000
  • "Let it be, dear Lord, let it be."
  • 00:02:05.000 --> 00:02:07.170
  • Wow, I think that's our heart's desire.
  • 00:02:07.170 --> 00:02:11.030
  • We all want to be near to Jesus, closer to Jesus,
  • 00:02:11.030 --> 00:02:15.120
  • a walk is symbolic for a journey together with Jesus.
  • 00:02:15.120 --> 00:02:20.120
  • And I love that song because it talks about
  • 00:02:21.170 --> 00:02:23.270
  • walking close and near
  • 00:02:23.270 --> 00:02:27.230
  • and getting to have contact with Jesus.
  • 00:02:27.230 --> 00:02:31.010
  • That's exactly what happened with the man in the Bible,
  • 00:02:31.010 --> 00:02:33.250
  • if you heard the story, it was Mark chapter eight.
  • 00:02:33.250 --> 00:02:37.000
  • And I was so touched by that story
  • 00:02:37.000 --> 00:02:39.190
  • because here's this blind man in Bethsaida.
  • 00:02:39.190 --> 00:02:42.020
  • Bethsaida would be the northeast side of the Sea of Galilee.
  • 00:02:42.020 --> 00:02:46.010
  • It's where Philip and Peter and Andrew came from.
  • 00:02:46.010 --> 00:02:49.100
  • And Jesus and his disciples were there
  • 00:02:49.100 --> 00:02:51.140
  • and they brought a blind man to him.
  • 00:02:51.140 --> 00:02:53.080
  • And Jesus, interestingly,
  • 00:02:53.080 --> 00:02:55.010
  • he takes the blind man by the hand and he walks with him.
  • 00:02:55.010 --> 00:03:00.030
  • He takes him out of the village, out of Bethsaida.
  • 00:03:01.200 --> 00:03:05.050
  • Now use your imagination for a moment.
  • 00:03:05.050 --> 00:03:07.190
  • Can you imagine during the walk,
  • 00:03:08.170 --> 00:03:10.070
  • and remember, this is just a closer walk with Jesus,
  • 00:03:10.070 --> 00:03:13.240
  • during that walk, what Jesus said to him.
  • 00:03:13.240 --> 00:03:16.280
  • "I'm the light of the world.
  • 00:03:16.280 --> 00:03:18.190
  • "I am with you.
  • 00:03:19.280 --> 00:03:21.030
  • "I will help you.
  • 00:03:21.280 --> 00:03:23.250
  • "I'm your friend."
  • 00:03:23.250 --> 00:03:25.060
  • I love how Jesus in the Gospel of John says,
  • 00:03:26.100 --> 00:03:28.290
  • "I no longer call you slaves, I call you friends."
  • 00:03:28.290 --> 00:03:32.290
  • And that's exactly, I think, what Jesus wants for us.
  • 00:03:32.290 --> 00:03:37.230
  • Not so much that he's our Master and our Lord, I know he is.
  • 00:03:37.230 --> 00:03:41.190
  • He is so worthy, he's the Son of God,
  • 00:03:41.190 --> 00:03:45.050
  • and he is Lord and Master.
  • 00:03:45.050 --> 00:03:47.280
  • But he wants this intimacy, this relationship.
  • 00:03:47.280 --> 00:03:52.280
  • He took a blind man by the hand, can you imagine?
  • 00:03:54.100 --> 00:03:57.000
  • And I believe he wants to take us by the hand
  • 00:03:57.000 --> 00:04:00.030
  • on this close walk.
  • 00:04:00.030 --> 00:04:01.180
  • I preach parish missions.
  • 00:04:03.010 --> 00:04:05.180
  • Parish missions are a time of revival
  • 00:04:05.180 --> 00:04:08.220
  • in the Catholic Church,
  • 00:04:08.220 --> 00:04:10.090
  • and they come out night after night, morning after morning,
  • 00:04:10.090 --> 00:04:12.230
  • because they want some type of a meeting.
  • 00:04:12.230 --> 00:04:16.090
  • They want some type of an encounter
  • 00:04:17.130 --> 00:04:19.250
  • through the preached word.
  • 00:04:19.250 --> 00:04:21.210
  • They want some type of contact with Jesus
  • 00:04:21.210 --> 00:04:25.130
  • again in their lives.
  • 00:04:25.130 --> 00:04:26.220
  • Most of the people that come are religious,
  • 00:04:26.220 --> 00:04:29.040
  • they've already had some type of an encounter,
  • 00:04:29.040 --> 00:04:31.080
  • and they want something more.
  • 00:04:31.080 --> 00:04:32.220
  • They want something new, they want something different.
  • 00:04:32.220 --> 00:04:34.220
  • And that's exactly why I got on television.
  • 00:04:34.220 --> 00:04:37.190
  • Because I wanted you, the viewer,
  • 00:04:37.190 --> 00:04:40.100
  • to have an encounter and some type of contact,
  • 00:04:40.100 --> 00:04:44.150
  • some type of refreshment, if you will,
  • 00:04:44.150 --> 00:04:47.060
  • some type of rejuvenation through my television programs.
  • 00:04:47.060 --> 00:04:50.210
  • See, because I believe that the Risen Jesus,
  • 00:04:50.210 --> 00:04:52.280
  • the same Jesus that grabbed the hand of that blind man,
  • 00:04:52.280 --> 00:04:55.180
  • that same Jesus right now is reaching out to you,
  • 00:04:55.180 --> 00:04:58.190
  • right where you are watching,
  • 00:04:58.190 --> 00:05:00.090
  • right where you're listening by radio,
  • 00:05:00.090 --> 00:05:02.220
  • right where you're watching by the Internet,
  • 00:05:02.220 --> 00:05:05.080
  • and reaching out his hand to you.
  • 00:05:05.080 --> 00:05:07.150
  • One thing I want you to understand
  • 00:05:08.210 --> 00:05:10.150
  • is that encounters, we're talking about meetings,
  • 00:05:11.280 --> 00:05:15.190
  • they can be dramatic and they can be kind of ordinary.
  • 00:05:15.190 --> 00:05:20.060
  • This man in the Gospel of Mark chapter eight had both.
  • 00:05:21.190 --> 00:05:26.130
  • First of all, when he encountered Jesus,
  • 00:05:27.170 --> 00:05:29.280
  • he just encountered his touch
  • 00:05:29.280 --> 00:05:32.180
  • by him holding his hand,
  • 00:05:33.130 --> 00:05:36.010
  • and he just walked with him.
  • 00:05:37.020 --> 00:05:38.140
  • And sometimes an encounter with Jesus will be like that.
  • 00:05:39.260 --> 00:05:42.150
  • You will encounter Jesus in the silence, in the quiet,
  • 00:05:42.150 --> 00:05:47.130
  • maybe some religious music, reading the Bible,
  • 00:05:47.130 --> 00:05:51.190
  • your own conscience.
  • 00:05:52.220 --> 00:05:55.010
  • I hope that you'll realize that the Risen Jesus is there
  • 00:05:55.010 --> 00:05:58.110
  • just as much as he is in a church.
  • 00:05:58.110 --> 00:06:01.090
  • Other times, there will be dramatic encounters.
  • 00:06:01.090 --> 00:06:04.090
  • So the man walked with him,
  • 00:06:04.090 --> 00:06:06.110
  • and then Jesus touched his eyes, spit on his eyes,
  • 00:06:06.110 --> 00:06:09.130
  • and he came to a gradual new vision.
  • 00:06:09.130 --> 00:06:12.130
  • And sometimes there are dramatic moments of encounter,
  • 00:06:12.130 --> 00:06:15.070
  • we all love to hear those stories.
  • 00:06:15.070 --> 00:06:16.200
  • I remember a man came to visit me at my retreat center
  • 00:06:16.200 --> 00:06:21.030
  • in Houston, Holy Name Retreat Center.
  • 00:06:21.030 --> 00:06:23.190
  • He watches my program on television, he told me,
  • 00:06:23.190 --> 00:06:26.170
  • and he wanted to set up a meeting with me.
  • 00:06:26.170 --> 00:06:29.000
  • And he said, "Father, I was an alcoholic,
  • 00:06:29.000 --> 00:06:30.240
  • "and I have been drinking for years.
  • 00:06:30.240 --> 00:06:34.070
  • "And I tried to stop, (laughs) wasn't able to do it.
  • 00:06:34.070 --> 00:06:38.040
  • "But I was just driving in my car,
  • 00:06:38.040 --> 00:06:40.010
  • "and as I was driving, I began to pray.
  • 00:06:40.010 --> 00:06:42.220
  • "And as I was driving the car,
  • 00:06:42.220 --> 00:06:44.280
  • "Jesus touched me in such a powerful way,
  • 00:06:44.280 --> 00:06:47.020
  • "I don't know how I was still able to drive."
  • 00:06:47.020 --> 00:06:49.120
  • But he said, "He touched me
  • 00:06:49.120 --> 00:06:51.070
  • "and the love that flowed into my heart."
  • 00:06:51.070 --> 00:06:54.220
  • He said, "I've always heard about the love of God.
  • 00:06:54.220 --> 00:06:57.290
  • "We've heard it preached and read about it in the Bible,"
  • 00:06:57.290 --> 00:07:00.260
  • he said, "but I never really knew how deep that love is.
  • 00:07:00.260 --> 00:07:05.120
  • "How intimate, how powerful."
  • 00:07:05.120 --> 00:07:07.150
  • And he said, "Father, it changed my life."
  • 00:07:07.150 --> 00:07:09.030
  • He said, "I was never able to stop drinking,
  • 00:07:09.030 --> 00:07:11.130
  • "but because of that touch, that encounter in my car,
  • 00:07:11.130 --> 00:07:16.130
  • "I was able to stop drinking, and now I'm in recovery."
  • 00:07:17.250 --> 00:07:20.160
  • And I think that's so beautiful
  • 00:07:20.160 --> 00:07:21.230
  • because it was a very powerful encounter.
  • 00:07:21.230 --> 00:07:23.280
  • I've had powerful encounters with the Lord.
  • 00:07:23.280 --> 00:07:26.090
  • I think this is what people want.
  • 00:07:26.090 --> 00:07:28.130
  • I remember one time, just as a teenager,
  • 00:07:28.130 --> 00:07:30.120
  • I was only 18 years old,
  • 00:07:30.120 --> 00:07:32.190
  • I had been searching for God in my life.
  • 00:07:32.190 --> 00:07:35.000
  • Looking, reading the Bible, and searching the scriptures,
  • 00:07:35.000 --> 00:07:38.000
  • and wasn't really going to church, but starting to pray.
  • 00:07:38.000 --> 00:07:41.280
  • And just one night I went to bed,
  • 00:07:41.280 --> 00:07:44.020
  • and if you know anything about Pentecost,
  • 00:07:44.020 --> 00:07:46.040
  • suddenly, it says that when the day of Pentecost came,
  • 00:07:46.040 --> 00:07:50.210
  • they were all gathered in one place,
  • 00:07:50.210 --> 00:07:52.070
  • and then suddenly the Spirit came.
  • 00:07:52.070 --> 00:07:55.130
  • So, you know, I was expecting, I was believing,
  • 00:07:55.130 --> 00:07:57.210
  • I was hoping, but you never know.
  • 00:07:57.210 --> 00:07:59.260
  • But God has a plan, at least he did for me in this way.
  • 00:07:59.260 --> 00:08:02.190
  • Suddenly I had this dream.
  • 00:08:02.190 --> 00:08:04.230
  • And in this dream I had an encounter with the Risen Lord
  • 00:08:04.230 --> 00:08:08.020
  • that absolutely revolutionized my life
  • 00:08:08.020 --> 00:08:11.080
  • and led to my calling as a Catholic priest.
  • 00:08:11.080 --> 00:08:13.210
  • And wow, I never would have dreamed, but I did dream.
  • 00:08:13.210 --> 00:08:17.250
  • That's exactly what the vision of Pentecost is,
  • 00:08:17.250 --> 00:08:19.290
  • that your young people will have visions
  • 00:08:19.290 --> 00:08:23.190
  • and your old people will dream dreams.
  • 00:08:23.190 --> 00:08:26.110
  • And I always tell people
  • 00:08:26.110 --> 00:08:27.170
  • you're never too old to dream a dream
  • 00:08:27.170 --> 00:08:29.050
  • and you're never too young to have a vision.
  • 00:08:29.050 --> 00:08:31.290
  • So be open to dramatic encounters with God.
  • 00:08:31.290 --> 00:08:36.290
  • But, in addition,
  • 00:08:37.240 --> 00:08:41.070
  • I don't want you to think you're being left out.
  • 00:08:41.070 --> 00:08:43.070
  • That's what my mother told me one time.
  • 00:08:43.070 --> 00:08:44.200
  • I was sitting on the couch with her
  • 00:08:44.200 --> 00:08:46.060
  • and I'm telling my mom all about the wonderful things
  • 00:08:46.060 --> 00:08:49.160
  • and being baptized in the Holy Spirit
  • 00:08:49.160 --> 00:08:51.100
  • and how I've seen the Risen Lord
  • 00:08:51.100 --> 00:08:52.260
  • and he put his arm around my shoulder and loved me,
  • 00:08:52.260 --> 00:08:56.070
  • and I experienced resurrection in my life.
  • 00:08:56.070 --> 00:08:59.180
  • And I'm talking with my mom about it
  • 00:08:59.180 --> 00:09:00.230
  • and she looked at me and said,
  • 00:09:00.230 --> 00:09:01.210
  • "I've been Catholic all my life
  • 00:09:01.210 --> 00:09:03.070
  • "and I haven't had anything like that, what's going on?"
  • 00:09:03.070 --> 00:09:05.290
  • And I think that's the experience
  • 00:09:05.290 --> 00:09:07.200
  • for the majority of people.
  • 00:09:07.200 --> 00:09:09.090
  • Maybe you've been Catholic or Christian all your life,
  • 00:09:09.090 --> 00:09:12.240
  • maybe you've had a born again experience
  • 00:09:14.090 --> 00:09:16.070
  • and you've had a dramatic experience,
  • 00:09:16.070 --> 00:09:18.240
  • or maybe your born again experience wasn't so dramatic
  • 00:09:18.240 --> 00:09:21.140
  • and you're not sure if something's wrong with you.
  • 00:09:21.140 --> 00:09:24.150
  • Well, let me say that different people
  • 00:09:24.150 --> 00:09:26.120
  • encounter God in different ways,
  • 00:09:26.120 --> 00:09:29.050
  • and my experience doesn't have to be your experience
  • 00:09:29.050 --> 00:09:31.240
  • and your experience is different from my experience,
  • 00:09:31.240 --> 00:09:34.140
  • and they're all good.
  • 00:09:34.140 --> 00:09:35.170
  • Some of them are dramatic, some not so dramatic.
  • 00:09:36.290 --> 00:09:38.230
  • A lot of people encountered Jesus in the Bible
  • 00:09:38.230 --> 00:09:41.060
  • and it wasn't so dramatic.
  • 00:09:41.060 --> 00:09:42.220
  • They encountered his teaching,
  • 00:09:43.220 --> 00:09:45.140
  • which we get from the scriptures.
  • 00:09:45.140 --> 00:09:47.250
  • Some encountered miracles, that was very dramatic.
  • 00:09:47.250 --> 00:09:50.210
  • And some just saw him from a distance,
  • 00:09:51.270 --> 00:09:54.220
  • but it was still the same Jesus.
  • 00:09:54.220 --> 00:09:56.090
  • So I'm hoping that you'll realize
  • 00:09:56.090 --> 00:09:58.190
  • that encounters come in different ways.
  • 00:09:58.190 --> 00:10:00.130
  • You've heard the story about Elijah the prophet.
  • 00:10:00.130 --> 00:10:03.190
  • He went up to a mountaintop one time,
  • 00:10:03.190 --> 00:10:06.060
  • and while he was in the mountain,
  • 00:10:06.060 --> 00:10:08.090
  • at the mountain, the Lord passed by.
  • 00:10:08.090 --> 00:10:10.220
  • And all of a sudden, the mountain was rent into pieces,
  • 00:10:12.030 --> 00:10:15.020
  • there was a big earthquake,
  • 00:10:15.020 --> 00:10:16.180
  • and it says that the Lord wasn't in the earthquake.
  • 00:10:16.180 --> 00:10:20.060
  • And then there was a mighty wind
  • 00:10:20.060 --> 00:10:21.220
  • and it said that the Lord wasn't in the wind.
  • 00:10:21.220 --> 00:10:24.230
  • Then there was a ferocious fire
  • 00:10:24.230 --> 00:10:26.120
  • and then the scriptures say
  • 00:10:26.120 --> 00:10:27.210
  • that the Lord wasn't in the fire.
  • 00:10:27.210 --> 00:10:29.110
  • Then there was a tiny whisper,
  • 00:10:29.110 --> 00:10:31.020
  • and Elijah hid his face because God spoke to him.
  • 00:10:32.170 --> 00:10:36.220
  • Wow.
  • 00:10:37.220 --> 00:10:39.010
  • Just a tiny whisper.
  • 00:10:39.010 --> 00:10:40.150
  • One of my best friends is a Catholic priest,
  • 00:10:41.210 --> 00:10:44.260
  • and in our community, our passion is community,
  • 00:10:44.260 --> 00:10:47.280
  • his name is Father Joe.
  • 00:10:47.280 --> 00:10:49.100
  • And Father Joe and I are really good friends,
  • 00:10:50.140 --> 00:10:52.150
  • we go way back, and we took a walk together.
  • 00:10:52.150 --> 00:10:55.220
  • And during that walk, we were so vulnerable with each other
  • 00:10:55.220 --> 00:11:00.230
  • and we shared with each other
  • 00:11:01.200 --> 00:11:02.280
  • what's going on in each other's lives.
  • 00:11:02.280 --> 00:11:05.050
  • And then we go to confession to each other.
  • 00:11:05.050 --> 00:11:08.040
  • I call that walk an Emmaus Walk.
  • 00:11:08.040 --> 00:11:12.100
  • Jesus comes to me through another person.
  • 00:11:12.100 --> 00:11:14.270
  • So there's the Risen Jesus
  • 00:11:16.000 --> 00:11:19.010
  • and he comes to us in all of his splendor
  • 00:11:19.010 --> 00:11:21.200
  • and all of his encounter in very dramatic ways.
  • 00:11:21.200 --> 00:11:25.120
  • But also through your conscience, through the Bible,
  • 00:11:25.120 --> 00:11:29.070
  • through artwork, through poetry, through preaching,
  • 00:11:29.070 --> 00:11:34.010
  • through television shows, through music, and through people.
  • 00:11:34.010 --> 00:11:38.020
  • But one of the places that he came to me,
  • 00:11:39.070 --> 00:11:40.150
  • remember, we're talking about a closer walk,
  • 00:11:40.150 --> 00:11:42.210
  • one of the places he simply came to me
  • 00:11:43.270 --> 00:11:45.190
  • was walking with my friend.
  • 00:11:45.190 --> 00:11:47.130
  • Remember what I said, more than anything,
  • 00:11:47.130 --> 00:11:49.240
  • Jesus simply wants to be our friend.
  • 00:11:49.240 --> 00:11:52.070
  • And friendship has to do with being vulnerable
  • 00:11:53.120 --> 00:11:57.060
  • and sharing and having good times together.
  • 00:11:57.060 --> 00:12:01.230
  • So I want you to know that Jesus is your friend
  • 00:12:01.230 --> 00:12:05.150
  • and he'll come to you through your parents,
  • 00:12:05.150 --> 00:12:08.040
  • through your spouse, through your children,
  • 00:12:08.040 --> 00:12:10.060
  • through your friends.
  • 00:12:10.060 --> 00:12:12.030
  • And listen for his wisdom, listen for him to speak to you.
  • 00:12:12.030 --> 00:12:17.030
  • So it doesn't always have to be
  • 00:12:18.040 --> 00:12:19.150
  • the earthquake and the wind and the fire.
  • 00:12:19.150 --> 00:12:22.050
  • It doesn't always have to be dramatic.
  • 00:12:22.050 --> 00:12:23.170
  • It can be, and I hope it will be for you,
  • 00:12:23.170 --> 00:12:26.100
  • but I'm praying that you'll hear the whisper,
  • 00:12:26.100 --> 00:12:29.200
  • the still, small voice.
  • 00:12:29.200 --> 00:12:32.030
  • I'm praying you'll sense Jesus holding your hand
  • 00:12:32.030 --> 00:12:34.220
  • as you watch this television program,
  • 00:12:34.220 --> 00:12:37.140
  • and that in retrospect, as you think about it,
  • 00:12:37.140 --> 00:12:40.020
  • you'll say, "He visited me today."
  • 00:12:40.020 --> 00:12:42.150
  • Remember the story, this is one of the Easter stories,
  • 00:12:42.150 --> 00:12:45.210
  • the story of Emmaus.
  • 00:12:45.210 --> 00:12:47.160
  • I've been to Israel and there's actually
  • 00:12:47.160 --> 00:12:50.120
  • four different Emmaus's all around Jerusalem.
  • 00:12:50.120 --> 00:12:53.170
  • They're not quite sure where it was.
  • 00:12:53.170 --> 00:12:55.130
  • One's North, one's South, one's East, and one's West.
  • 00:12:55.130 --> 00:12:58.110
  • That tells me that, really, everywhere in the world
  • 00:12:58.110 --> 00:13:02.000
  • can be Emmaus.
  • 00:13:02.000 --> 00:13:03.190
  • And you know the story, here's these two disciples,
  • 00:13:03.190 --> 00:13:06.220
  • and they were downcast because their hopes were dashed
  • 00:13:06.220 --> 00:13:10.110
  • because Jesus was put to death.
  • 00:13:10.110 --> 00:13:12.260
  • And because Jesus was put to death,
  • 00:13:12.260 --> 00:13:15.040
  • they thought all the hope was gone,
  • 00:13:15.040 --> 00:13:16.220
  • they thought he was the Messiah.
  • 00:13:16.220 --> 00:13:18.220
  • And so as they're walking, discouraged,
  • 00:13:18.220 --> 00:13:21.140
  • and they're talking downcast,
  • 00:13:21.140 --> 00:13:24.110
  • Jesus the Risen Lord walks with them
  • 00:13:25.160 --> 00:13:28.010
  • and they didn't know it was him.
  • 00:13:28.010 --> 00:13:30.100
  • And sometimes in your life Jesus is walking with you
  • 00:13:30.100 --> 00:13:33.040
  • and you don't know it's him.
  • 00:13:33.040 --> 00:13:35.070
  • You have to be spiritually adept,
  • 00:13:35.070 --> 00:13:37.020
  • you have to open up your heart and you have to be aware,
  • 00:13:37.020 --> 00:13:40.130
  • because he comes in so many ways.
  • 00:13:40.130 --> 00:13:43.080
  • Just simply walking.
  • 00:13:43.080 --> 00:13:45.240
  • "Just a closer walk with thee.
  • 00:13:45.240 --> 00:13:48.190
  • "Grant it, Jesus, that's my plea."
  • 00:13:48.190 --> 00:13:51.230
  • So anyway, he talks to them about the scriptures
  • 00:13:51.230 --> 00:13:54.200
  • and he gives them hope.
  • 00:13:54.200 --> 00:13:56.150
  • And then he shares a meal with them.
  • 00:13:56.150 --> 00:13:58.070
  • A meal in the Semitic world, of course,
  • 00:13:58.070 --> 00:14:00.060
  • is that place of intimacy with somebody.
  • 00:14:00.060 --> 00:14:03.230
  • Meals in our culture are places of intimacy.
  • 00:14:03.230 --> 00:14:06.080
  • That's where we get to know people,
  • 00:14:06.080 --> 00:14:08.060
  • that's where we get to know their ideas,
  • 00:14:08.060 --> 00:14:10.010
  • their politics, their religion, their heart.
  • 00:14:10.010 --> 00:14:12.130
  • As we eat, we talk about different things.
  • 00:14:12.130 --> 00:14:15.200
  • And of course, the wonderful meal
  • 00:14:15.200 --> 00:14:17.130
  • that Jesus gave us at the Last Supper, we Catholics believe
  • 00:14:17.130 --> 00:14:20.280
  • that it is the very body and the blood of Christ
  • 00:14:20.280 --> 00:14:23.230
  • and we are nourished by this food.
  • 00:14:23.230 --> 00:14:26.040
  • And this food is literally brought into the present,
  • 00:14:26.040 --> 00:14:29.280
  • that's the sacrifice of the Mass
  • 00:14:29.280 --> 00:14:32.180
  • and the dynamic remembering
  • 00:14:32.180 --> 00:14:34.010
  • that brings the sacrifice of Jesus on Calvary,
  • 00:14:34.010 --> 00:14:37.190
  • right into the moment.
  • 00:14:37.190 --> 00:14:39.100
  • So they have this encounter with Jesus
  • 00:14:39.100 --> 00:14:42.010
  • simply by walking and by talking and by sharing a meal.
  • 00:14:42.010 --> 00:14:44.250
  • It's so ordinary.
  • 00:14:44.250 --> 00:14:46.130
  • And it's only in retrospect, when Jesus disappears,
  • 00:14:46.130 --> 00:14:50.040
  • that they said, "Weren't our hearts burning?"
  • 00:14:50.040 --> 00:14:52.110
  • They had this wonderful encounter.
  • 00:14:53.140 --> 00:14:55.030
  • We try to give people encounters at our retreat centers.
  • 00:14:56.150 --> 00:15:00.180
  • I told you that I go and I preach missions, parish missions,
  • 00:15:00.180 --> 00:15:03.200
  • parish revivals, parish retreats.
  • 00:15:03.200 --> 00:15:06.110
  • And I go to all these different parishes
  • 00:15:06.110 --> 00:15:07.280
  • in the United States.
  • 00:15:07.280 --> 00:15:09.110
  • And I try to provide an atmosphere
  • 00:15:09.110 --> 00:15:11.120
  • where people will encounter,
  • 00:15:11.120 --> 00:15:13.240
  • where the Risen Jesus will touch you right where you are.
  • 00:15:13.240 --> 00:15:16.200
  • Perhaps you are discouraged, like the two apostles were
  • 00:15:16.200 --> 00:15:20.150
  • as they were walking away from Jerusalem.
  • 00:15:20.150 --> 00:15:22.280
  • And by the way, in the Gospel of Luke,
  • 00:15:22.280 --> 00:15:25.000
  • Jerusalem is the place of mission,
  • 00:15:25.000 --> 00:15:27.060
  • that's the place where they're sent out.
  • 00:15:27.060 --> 00:15:29.040
  • So they were going the opposite direction,
  • 00:15:29.040 --> 00:15:31.190
  • they were going away from the place of mission.
  • 00:15:31.190 --> 00:15:33.130
  • They had given up, they had lost hope,
  • 00:15:33.130 --> 00:15:35.020
  • they were discouraged.
  • 00:15:35.020 --> 00:15:36.160
  • You might be at that place in your life right now
  • 00:15:36.160 --> 00:15:38.230
  • because of something that's been going on in your life,
  • 00:15:38.230 --> 00:15:41.170
  • some kind of a death, some kind of a discouragement,
  • 00:15:41.170 --> 00:15:44.150
  • and you're going the wrong way.
  • 00:15:44.150 --> 00:15:45.210
  • Well, I'm praying this program right now
  • 00:15:45.210 --> 00:15:47.080
  • will turn you around
  • 00:15:47.080 --> 00:15:49.140
  • and bring you to the place of mission
  • 00:15:49.140 --> 00:15:51.050
  • where you too can say, "Jesus has touched me.
  • 00:15:51.050 --> 00:15:54.190
  • "He's alive.
  • 00:15:55.250 --> 00:15:57.210
  • "He's spoken to me."
  • 00:15:57.210 --> 00:15:59.190
  • That's exactly what happened with the apostles.
  • 00:15:59.190 --> 00:16:02.060
  • So on this road to Emmaus, Jesus spoke to them.
  • 00:16:02.060 --> 00:16:06.090
  • It was a very ordinary moment,
  • 00:16:06.090 --> 00:16:09.000
  • yet it turned into an extraordinary risen moment
  • 00:16:09.000 --> 00:16:13.040
  • for those disciples.
  • 00:16:13.040 --> 00:16:14.200
  • I love to walk.
  • 00:16:14.200 --> 00:16:16.180
  • And somehow when I just simply take a walk,
  • 00:16:16.180 --> 00:16:20.180
  • I sense God's presence.
  • 00:16:20.180 --> 00:16:23.030
  • The Lord is reaching out to hold your hand
  • 00:16:23.030 --> 00:16:25.070
  • to walk with you right now.
  • 00:16:25.070 --> 00:16:26.180
  • He knows what you're going through.
  • 00:16:26.180 --> 00:16:28.100
  • And while it may not be taken away,
  • 00:16:29.220 --> 00:16:31.200
  • he'll walk with you through it.
  • 00:16:32.230 --> 00:16:35.070
  • I love what it says in Psalm 23.
  • 00:16:35.070 --> 00:16:37.080
  • "The Shepherd walks with us
  • 00:16:38.100 --> 00:16:41.030
  • "through the valley of the shadow of death.
  • 00:16:41.030 --> 00:16:43.240
  • "And because he's with us, we fear no evil,
  • 00:16:43.240 --> 00:16:47.140
  • "because he's at our side with his road and his staff
  • 00:16:47.140 --> 00:16:50.280
  • "to give us comfort."
  • 00:16:50.280 --> 00:16:52.130
  • I remember one time I went to a retreat center
  • 00:16:52.130 --> 00:16:55.240
  • in Big Sur, California.
  • 00:16:55.240 --> 00:16:57.130
  • It's right overlooking the Pacific Ocean.
  • 00:16:57.130 --> 00:17:00.200
  • 1.300-feet high.
  • 00:17:00.200 --> 00:17:02.250
  • Beautiful place.
  • 00:17:02.250 --> 00:17:04.220
  • Beautiful blue Pacific at night.
  • 00:17:04.220 --> 00:17:07.060
  • At night, the stars.
  • 00:17:08.150 --> 00:17:10.210
  • And when I was there, I wasn't hearing any talks,
  • 00:17:10.210 --> 00:17:13.230
  • I just went there with my Bible, I have a journal.
  • 00:17:13.230 --> 00:17:17.030
  • By the way, I advise you to get a journal
  • 00:17:17.030 --> 00:17:20.220
  • and just spend a little time
  • 00:17:20.220 --> 00:17:22.260
  • writing about your spiritual life, about your life.
  • 00:17:22.260 --> 00:17:26.090
  • I've been doing that now for 30 years.
  • 00:17:26.090 --> 00:17:29.080
  • And it's interesting, as I write,
  • 00:17:29.080 --> 00:17:31.190
  • I get nourished, I get edified.
  • 00:17:34.220 --> 00:17:37.060
  • And later on, years later, or even months later,
  • 00:17:37.060 --> 00:17:40.060
  • when I read about it, it's fascinating to me
  • 00:17:40.060 --> 00:17:43.090
  • how God speaks to me through my past experiences.
  • 00:17:43.090 --> 00:17:47.160
  • So journaling is really important.
  • 00:17:47.160 --> 00:17:49.000
  • But anyway, I'm at that retreat.
  • 00:17:49.000 --> 00:17:50.260
  • And I remember one night I went out there,
  • 00:17:50.260 --> 00:17:52.130
  • this is probably about 15 years ago,
  • 00:17:52.130 --> 00:17:55.060
  • and I went out there and it was so dark,
  • 00:17:55.060 --> 00:17:57.140
  • this is right by the Pacific Ocean,
  • 00:17:57.140 --> 00:17:59.050
  • at my retreat, by myself in a hermitage.
  • 00:17:59.050 --> 00:18:02.150
  • And it was so dark, I could hear the ocean down below,
  • 00:18:02.150 --> 00:18:05.180
  • and I looked up and I could see the milk of the Milky Way.
  • 00:18:05.180 --> 00:18:09.110
  • And I say this to people all the time: reach for the stars.
  • 00:18:09.110 --> 00:18:12.290
  • And as I, (sighs) my mouth dropped open.
  • 00:18:14.050 --> 00:18:17.230
  • And I got a sense
  • 00:18:17.230 --> 00:18:19.100
  • of the grandeur of God.
  • 00:18:20.200 --> 00:18:23.140
  • Oftentimes we miss creation. (laughs)
  • 00:18:23.140 --> 00:18:28.030
  • It's so big and so beautiful,
  • 00:18:28.030 --> 00:18:30.190
  • sometimes we fail to take it in.
  • 00:18:30.190 --> 00:18:32.120
  • It is
  • 00:18:32.120 --> 00:18:33.070
  • awe-inspiring.
  • 00:18:35.090 --> 00:18:36.120
  • As I'm looking at the stars, I have dreams in my life.
  • 00:18:37.250 --> 00:18:41.090
  • You have dreams in your life.
  • 00:18:42.120 --> 00:18:44.170
  • Not literal dreams, per se, but aspirations.
  • 00:18:44.170 --> 00:18:49.020
  • And one of the dreams I had as a Catholic priest,
  • 00:18:49.020 --> 00:18:52.120
  • I wanted to reach out to people
  • 00:18:52.120 --> 00:18:54.130
  • beyond the walls of the church.
  • 00:18:54.130 --> 00:18:57.030
  • Because the people that come to church are great
  • 00:18:57.030 --> 00:18:59.030
  • but they're mostly saved. (laughs)
  • 00:18:59.030 --> 00:19:01.060
  • Most of them are saved already.
  • 00:19:01.060 --> 00:19:03.030
  • Some still need it and we try to help them with that.
  • 00:19:03.030 --> 00:19:06.040
  • But what about the young people
  • 00:19:06.040 --> 00:19:07.230
  • that are outside the walls of the church?
  • 00:19:07.230 --> 00:19:09.270
  • What about the people, they're called nones, N-O-N-E-S?
  • 00:19:09.270 --> 00:19:14.160
  • They claim no religion, no spirituality,
  • 00:19:14.160 --> 00:19:17.070
  • they don't go to church, they're lost.
  • 00:19:17.070 --> 00:19:20.120
  • They may not know it.
  • 00:19:20.120 --> 00:19:22.000
  • What about them?
  • 00:19:22.000 --> 00:19:23.160
  • Well, as a Catholic priest and as someone who loves the Lord
  • 00:19:23.160 --> 00:19:25.140
  • and who has encountered the Lord
  • 00:19:25.140 --> 00:19:27.000
  • and was lost at one time in my life and Jesus saved me,
  • 00:19:27.000 --> 00:19:30.140
  • as a Catholic priest, I wanna reach out to those people.
  • 00:19:30.140 --> 00:19:33.210
  • So I had this dream that I wanted to get on television
  • 00:19:33.210 --> 00:19:38.150
  • and mass media, printed media, and social media,
  • 00:19:38.150 --> 00:19:43.150
  • I wanted to get on there
  • 00:19:44.070 --> 00:19:45.240
  • so that I could reach out to these different people
  • 00:19:45.240 --> 00:19:46.270
  • beyond the walls of the church.
  • 00:19:46.270 --> 00:19:48.210
  • But I thought to myself, it's so hard, it's so expensive,
  • 00:19:48.210 --> 00:19:51.120
  • I don't have any contacts,
  • 00:19:51.120 --> 00:19:53.090
  • I don't know any people in the business,
  • 00:19:53.090 --> 00:19:55.050
  • how do I do something like this?
  • 00:19:55.050 --> 00:19:56.240
  • But again, I looked back up at the stars and I just,
  • 00:19:56.240 --> 00:20:00.040
  • I heard those words of Jesus.
  • 00:20:00.040 --> 00:20:02.120
  • "All things are possible for God."
  • 00:20:03.200 --> 00:20:06.100
  • And I looked at the stars, and if God can do that,
  • 00:20:06.100 --> 00:20:09.140
  • getting on television will be easy.
  • 00:20:10.180 --> 00:20:13.070
  • So I really sensed that God spoke to me on that retreat,
  • 00:20:13.070 --> 00:20:17.130
  • and that's why we go on retreats.
  • 00:20:17.130 --> 00:20:19.260
  • To listen to the voice of God,
  • 00:20:19.260 --> 00:20:21.210
  • to dream dreams, to get direction,
  • 00:20:21.210 --> 00:20:25.160
  • to go through personal change, to get perspective.
  • 00:20:25.160 --> 00:20:29.290
  • I invite you to get a spiritual director
  • 00:20:29.290 --> 00:20:31.250
  • if you don't have one.
  • 00:20:31.250 --> 00:20:33.100
  • Talk with that person.
  • 00:20:33.100 --> 00:20:35.000
  • Get a counselor, go on a retreat if you want
  • 00:20:35.000 --> 00:20:37.060
  • to one of our centers or Jesuits or the Redemptorists,
  • 00:20:37.060 --> 00:20:40.180
  • they all have retreat centers, Franciscans.
  • 00:20:40.180 --> 00:20:43.140
  • Go to a retreat center and go on a retreat
  • 00:20:43.140 --> 00:20:45.090
  • and talk to a spiritual director or a counselor,
  • 00:20:45.090 --> 00:20:47.190
  • they can help you with your dreams and your visions.
  • 00:20:47.190 --> 00:20:50.290
  • You can hear the voice of God, as I said, through people.
  • 00:20:50.290 --> 00:20:53.080
  • So anyway, I started working really hard,
  • 00:20:53.080 --> 00:20:56.130
  • and long story short, now I'm on several networks,
  • 00:20:56.130 --> 00:21:01.050
  • radio, social media, written 22 books.
  • 00:21:02.110 --> 00:21:07.070
  • It's because I came aside and rested for a while
  • 00:21:07.070 --> 00:21:12.000
  • and got a new perspective.
  • 00:21:12.000 --> 00:21:14.090
  • And that's one of the ways that God will speak to you.
  • 00:21:14.090 --> 00:21:17.120
  • I don't apologize for taking retreats or vacations
  • 00:21:17.120 --> 00:21:22.070
  • or going to play golf once in a while,
  • 00:21:22.070 --> 00:21:24.250
  • because we all need some rest.
  • 00:21:24.250 --> 00:21:27.130
  • And it's in the rest, that's what Jesus told the apostles,
  • 00:21:27.130 --> 00:21:30.000
  • he said, "Come apart, before you come apart. (laughs)
  • 00:21:30.000 --> 00:21:34.290
  • "Come aside and rest for a while."
  • 00:21:34.290 --> 00:21:37.060
  • Right there in your home, just as you're doing,
  • 00:21:37.060 --> 00:21:40.160
  • watching TV, maybe put on a little Christian music,
  • 00:21:40.160 --> 00:21:44.010
  • you can read the Bible just for five minutes,
  • 00:21:44.010 --> 00:21:46.290
  • see if God speaks to you.
  • 00:21:46.290 --> 00:21:49.070
  • Perhaps do a little bit of journaling.
  • 00:21:49.070 --> 00:21:51.240
  • And then maybe just a little bit of time in prayer.
  • 00:21:51.240 --> 00:21:55.260
  • You can encounter Jesus.
  • 00:21:55.260 --> 00:21:57.210
  • And remember, it doesn't have to be
  • 00:21:57.210 --> 00:21:59.180
  • this earthshaking moment,
  • 00:21:59.180 --> 00:22:01.260
  • it doesn't have to be the fire of Pentecost.
  • 00:22:01.260 --> 00:22:04.280
  • It can be talking to a friend on the phone in a godly way.
  • 00:22:04.280 --> 00:22:08.240
  • It can be just taking a walk with yourself.
  • 00:22:08.240 --> 00:22:12.060
  • It can actually be taking a walk with your animal.
  • 00:22:12.060 --> 00:22:14.060
  • Sometimes, remember in the Old Testament,
  • 00:22:14.060 --> 00:22:16.080
  • God spoke through a donkey.
  • 00:22:16.080 --> 00:22:17.220
  • It can speak through your cat and your dog, too.
  • 00:22:17.220 --> 00:22:21.020
  • I've met people that are devastated when their animal dies
  • 00:22:21.020 --> 00:22:23.190
  • because they love them so much.
  • 00:22:23.190 --> 00:22:25.260
  • Well, God can speak through your animal, too.
  • 00:22:25.260 --> 00:22:28.230
  • So, most of all, I want you to know
  • 00:22:28.230 --> 00:22:30.280
  • that God speaks in your heart.
  • 00:22:30.280 --> 00:22:32.280
  • I got this quote from Saint Augustine that I really like.
  • 00:22:32.280 --> 00:22:36.240
  • And it's quote about how "people go abroad
  • 00:22:36.240 --> 00:22:40.060
  • "and they go far searching for God,
  • 00:22:40.060 --> 00:22:43.050
  • "and they miss the fact that God is in their own heart,"
  • 00:22:43.050 --> 00:22:45.280
  • and I love that.
  • 00:22:45.280 --> 00:22:47.150
  • Because God dwells in you.
  • 00:22:47.150 --> 00:22:51.130
  • You are the temple, you are the shrine of God.
  • 00:22:51.130 --> 00:22:55.040
  • So when it comes to looking for an encounter,
  • 00:22:55.040 --> 00:22:57.250
  • it can happen in so many different ways.
  • 00:22:59.010 --> 00:23:01.150
  • I think people think that they have to go to the Holy Land
  • 00:23:01.150 --> 00:23:04.040
  • or they have to go to Rome, and those are all good things,
  • 00:23:04.040 --> 00:23:06.190
  • and I've lived in both places.
  • 00:23:06.190 --> 00:23:08.270
  • But I want you to know that you can encounter God
  • 00:23:08.270 --> 00:23:11.030
  • right where you live.
  • 00:23:11.030 --> 00:23:12.130
  • In fact, it says in the Acts of the Apostles,
  • 00:23:12.130 --> 00:23:15.230
  • "In God we live and move and have our being."
  • 00:23:15.230 --> 00:23:20.140
  • So in other words, it's kind of like the story
  • 00:23:20.140 --> 00:23:22.060
  • I like to tell about the fish.
  • 00:23:22.060 --> 00:23:23.290
  • There were two fish swimming in the ocean.
  • 00:23:23.290 --> 00:23:26.070
  • One fish looked at the other and said,
  • 00:23:26.070 --> 00:23:27.240
  • "Hey, where's the ocean?" (laughs)
  • 00:23:27.240 --> 00:23:29.260
  • The other fish looked at him and he laughed
  • 00:23:29.260 --> 00:23:31.120
  • and he said, "The ocean is what you're swimming in."
  • 00:23:31.120 --> 00:23:33.260
  • So a lot of people go, "Where's God?"
  • 00:23:33.260 --> 00:23:35.070
  • It's what you're swimming in.
  • 00:23:35.070 --> 00:23:37.070
  • God is right there for you right now.
  • 00:23:38.270 --> 00:23:40.270
  • Take a moment.
  • 00:23:44.080 --> 00:23:45.060
  • "Be still and know that I am God."
  • 00:23:46.110 --> 00:23:48.170
  • He lives in your heart.
  • 00:23:49.240 --> 00:23:51.050
  • He walks with you.
  • 00:23:52.070 --> 00:23:53.140
  • He wants to be your best friend.
  • 00:23:54.100 --> 00:23:55.280
  • More than anything else, people need an encounter.
  • 00:23:57.110 --> 00:24:01.250
  • And I'm praying that through this program,
  • 00:24:01.250 --> 00:24:03.260
  • yeah, you're gonna have dramatic encounters as you watch,
  • 00:24:03.260 --> 00:24:06.250
  • I'm talking about what really matters,
  • 00:24:06.250 --> 00:24:09.020
  • you will have dramatic encounters with the Lord
  • 00:24:09.020 --> 00:24:10.290
  • and I'm believing for that.
  • 00:24:10.290 --> 00:24:12.180
  • But I'm also believing that in the ordinary
  • 00:24:12.180 --> 00:24:14.220
  • you won't be scandalized by silence,
  • 00:24:14.220 --> 00:24:17.240
  • by just taking a walk, by reading a good book,
  • 00:24:17.240 --> 00:24:21.010
  • listening to music, talking to people.
  • 00:24:21.010 --> 00:24:23.220
  • You won't be scandalized by it
  • 00:24:23.220 --> 00:24:25.260
  • but you'll hear the voice of God in it.
  • 00:24:25.260 --> 00:24:28.280
  • Don't just live, live with passion.
  • 00:24:28.280 --> 00:24:31.100
  • (gentle music)
  • 00:24:31.100 --> 00:24:33.250
  • I'm praying that this program was like a retreat for you
  • 00:24:33.250 --> 00:24:36.100
  • and you will encounter Jesus right in your very own home.
  • 00:24:36.100 --> 00:24:40.060
  • I got an email from a man from Canada,
  • 00:24:40.060 --> 00:24:42.130
  • and I do hear from people all around the world.
  • 00:24:42.130 --> 00:24:44.240
  • India, Sri Lanka, Canada, the Caribbean, and anyway.
  • 00:24:44.240 --> 00:24:48.210
  • He says that he gets up at 4:00 a.m. on Sunday mornings
  • 00:24:48.210 --> 00:24:51.150
  • to listen to my programs.
  • 00:24:51.150 --> 00:24:53.100
  • So that's the way it is with a retreat.
  • 00:24:53.100 --> 00:24:55.280
  • You can be wherever you are,
  • 00:24:55.280 --> 00:24:58.020
  • England or the United States or Canada,
  • 00:24:58.020 --> 00:25:00.240
  • and you can get up at any time you want
  • 00:25:00.240 --> 00:25:03.130
  • and encounter the Risen Lord.
  • 00:25:03.130 --> 00:25:05.000
  • God is omnipresent, he's everywhere that you are.
  • 00:25:05.000 --> 00:25:08.190
  • I wrote a book called "A Retreat with Father Cedric."
  • 00:25:08.190 --> 00:25:12.080
  • The genius of this books is,
  • 00:25:12.080 --> 00:25:14.250
  • no matter where you are, no matter what time it is,
  • 00:25:14.250 --> 00:25:19.010
  • you don't have to go to Jerusalem or to Rome
  • 00:25:19.010 --> 00:25:23.030
  • or to a retreat center,
  • 00:25:23.030 --> 00:25:24.160
  • right where you are in your very own home
  • 00:25:24.160 --> 00:25:26.140
  • you can have a retreat and an encounter,
  • 00:25:26.140 --> 00:25:29.040
  • a closer walk with Jesus.
  • 00:25:29.040 --> 00:25:31.120
  • It really encourages me when people buy my books.
  • 00:25:31.120 --> 00:25:35.050
  • I've written 22 books to date.
  • 00:25:35.050 --> 00:25:37.100
  • Or they buy my DVDs or my CDs.
  • 00:25:37.100 --> 00:25:40.160
  • And not only does it encourage me, it supports me,
  • 00:25:40.160 --> 00:25:43.060
  • because that's the money that I use
  • 00:25:43.060 --> 00:25:44.220
